Ronald Brooks
SALISBURY, Md.- A Salisbury man is facing assault and related charges following accusations that he attacked a correctional officer trying to haul him off to jail.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said that on Tuesday, Aug. 28, a correctional officer was trying to place 69-year-old Ronald Brooks into restraints prior to transportation to the county detention center when Brooks began spitting in the face of the officer. The officer took steps to restrain Brooks from further assault upon the officer and completed his task, police said.
The officer was treated at a local facility for exposure to bodily fluids.
Police said that a day after the incident, Brooks was served a warrant charging him with assault on a county corrections employee and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bond in the detention center.
