SALISBURY, Md.- Wicomico County is mourning the loss of a great leader this Labor Day. The Wicomico County Public Information Officer confirms the death of former Council President Henry S. Parker.
Wicomico County Executive issued this statement on Henry S. Parker's passing:
"To many of us around the State, Henry Parker was "Mr. Wicomico". For generations, the Parker family has served our community with great distinction and a strong heart. Mr. Henry's contributions in securing Wicomico County's place as the "Hub of Delmarva" cannot be over-stated. We will miss him tremendously but take comfort in knowing our county thrives today thanks, in large part, to his having lived among us."
Parker served on the council from 1982 to 1998. He was president for 12 of those years. The athletic complex on Naylor Mill Road bears Henry Parker's name.
