SALISBURY, Md.- The Delmarva Shorebirds announced that Director of Broadcasting and Graphic Design Bret Lasky was named the 2012 South Atlantic League Media Relations Director of the Year.

Lasky is responsible for the dissemination of all team press releases, game recaps, transactions and more to local and national media outlets. He also handles media interview requests throughout the season and in the off season and updates and maintains the official website of the Shorebirds. In 2012, Lasky spearheaded a significant growth in the Shorebirds social media presence.
This season, media requests were at an all-time high with Orioles top prospect Dylan Bundy pitching for the Shorebirds. Lasky received interview requests from ESPN.com, MASN, MASNsports.com, CSNwashington.com, Orioles Magazine, MLB Network and several other local and regional outlets.
"Bret has been a vital part of our staff for the last four seasons and this year was no different," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. "Bret has always been one of our hardest working staff members and I'm really happy that his work is being recognized."

Further, Lasky is the lead graphic designer for the team. He designs all team promotional materials including the pocket schedule, group brochure, Playball magazines, flyers and more.
"It's a great honor to be recognized in this fashion especially because it's voted upon by my peers and I'm very thankful," Lasky said. "I want to thank the front office staff, players and coaches for making my job very simple when it comes to dealing with local and national media outlets."
Prior to joining the Shorebirds, Lasky spent one season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League as the assistant director of broadcasting and communications. In college, Lasky served as the sports director for WMUC Radio, the student radio station at the University of Maryland.
