PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team has
announced the promotion of former graduate assistant Curtis Peery to full-time assistant coach.
Peery will enter his fourth year with the UMES men's basketball team.

The former Roanoke College standout has contributed immensely since joining the staff in 2009.
"This is a great opportunity for us to keep the continuity of the program," said head coach Frankie
Allen. "Curtis has a bright future ahead of him as a coach, one with a tremendous work-ethic."

Peery officially begins his assistant coaching duties today, though he has been involved with
assisting in planning for the Hawks upcoming season since May.

Peery will continue to work with Allen in devising team strategies, scouting and analyzing
opponents. His duties will also include oversight of basketball operations: managing academic
status of players, coordinating tutors, supervision of team managers and organizing community
service initiatives for the team and student athletes.

A four-year member of the Roanoke College men's basketball team, Peery was a four-time All-
Old Dominion Athletic Conference Award winner, including an All-ODAC First and Second
Team honoree. He was also a Christopher Newport University and Domino's Classic Most
Valuable Player.

In three consecutive years, Peery led the Maroons in scoring and two years in rebounding.
Peery's junior and senior years he led Roanoke College in both scoring and rebounding. He is
currently 12th all-time in both categories at Roanoke. He finished his career with 1,349 total
points and 649 rebounds.

His college accolades continue with being 10th all-time in Roanoke history in free throws made
with 304. As a senior, he led the ODAC with an 84.2 free-throw percentage.

"Peery will continue to be an asset to the Hawks program, its staff and the development of UMES
men's basketball. He [Peery] has a great relationship with our players and administrative staff,"
concluded Allen.
