New Del. License Plate Will Benefit Marine Animals

LEWES, Del. (AP)- Delaware drivers can now display their love for marine animals with a special license plate.

The Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute license plate is being offered to state residents for a fee of $50. The nonprofit group, dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals and sea turtles, will receive $35 of the fee.

Suzanne Thurman, executive director of the group, says the plates are available at Division of Motor Vehicles locations. She says residents can buy the plates online at the end of the month.

The plate was designed by local artist Karin Snoots and depicts marine animals, such as sea turtles, seals and dolphins.
