Judge William Carpenter Jr. was elected to the post last month at the annual meeting of the American Bar Association. Carpenter is the first Delaware judge to hold the position.
The national conference is the oldest and largest organization of general jurisdiction state trial judges in the nation. It advocates for trial judges nationwide and represents their interests within the American Bar Association.
Carpenter's election to the 1-year post means that Delaware judges now lead two of the largest and most influential judicial conferences in the country.
