Redskins Long Snapper Plays With Broken Arm

Posted:

ASHBURN, Va. (AP)- It'll go down as the other remarkable performance in Robert Griffin III's stellar NFL debut: Washington's long snapper was playing with a broken arm.

Nick Sundberg broke his left arm in the first half of the Redskins' 40-32 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

But Sundberg continued to play. He snapped the ball four times for punts, twice for field goals and twice for extra points in the second half.

Sundberg says at one point he grabbed Griffin and told the rookie quarterback to keep the drives going - because the punt snaps were so painful.

Sundberg was wearing a cast on Monday. He's uncertain when he'll be able to play again.
