YORK, Pa.– Senior defender Nate Woods of the No. 12 Salisbury University men's soccer team was named the Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Woods, one of Salisbury's team captains, leads a defensive unit that has only allowed two goals in 450 minutes of action so far this season.
During the week, the Sea Gulls played three games and finished with a 2-1 record. The team shut out Washington (Md.) College, 1-0, on Wednesday and Centenary (N.J.) College, 5-0, on Saturday.
Woods and the defense did not allow a goal in the first 395 minutes and 47 seconds of the season until Bridgewater (Va.) College netted a score in the 26th minute of Sunday's game.
Woods played and started in all three games during the week.
Salisbury will be back in action on the road in Woodbridge, Va. on Wednesday for a neutral-site contest against Lynchburg College.
