GEORGETOWN, Del. - Tuesday's primary election in Sussex County is expected to be one of the busiest in roughly two decades.
The ballot will include 10 local races and three statewide races, said Kenneth McDowell, director of the Sussex County Department of Elections.
The department sent out roughly 1,500 absentee ballots. By Monday afternoon, about 1,200 were returned, McDowell said. Voters can return the absentee ballots to the Georgetown office until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
McDowell said his biggest concern is voters showing up to the wrong polling places. Due to reapportionment, some people were assigned new poll locations this year.
"You need to check your polling place cards as soon as possible, like right now, and call here if there's a question about where you are," McDowell said.
Voters must be registered party members to cast a ballot. The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
