WILMINGTON, Del. (AP/WBOC)- Delaware's incumbent insurance commissioner has beat back three Democratic primary challengers.
As winner of Tuesday's contest, Karen Weldin Stewart goes on to face Republican Benjamin Mobley and Libertarian David Eisenhour in November.
With 342 of 346 precincts reporting Tuesday, Stewart had 15,547 votes, or 33 percent. Mitch Crane, a former regulatory specialist in the insurance department who was endorsed by the Delaware Democratic Party, had 14,375 votes, or 30 percent.
Paul Gallagher, an insurance executive, had 9,375 votes, or 20 percent, and Dennis Spivack, a deputy attorney general and former Democratic congressional candidate, had 8,035 votes, or 17 percent.
