SALISBURY, Md.- An 18-year-old Fruitland man is behind bars following accusations that he made threatening phone calls to a student who attends Parkside High School.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said deputies started investigating a series of phone calls from Ryan Mitchell Eppley on Sept. 10.  The investigation led to deputies finding what they describe as threatening and unwanted phone calls. Authorities said voice messages left on the victim's phone Eppley included specific threats that he would go to Parkside High School in Salisbury and shoot him. Eppley also threatened to go to the victim's home and harm his family, according to police.

Police said Eppley was upset at the student because he was paying attention to a young lady Eppley was interested in. Investigators noted that Eppley is not a student at any Wicomico County public school.

Eppley was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with telephone misuse: repeated calls, and telephone calls: obscene. He was ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000.
