RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A suburban Richmond cheerleading coach has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on felony sex-related charges involving his students.
Thirty-three-year-old Maurice J. Jerralds was sentenced Wednesday in Henrico County Circuit Court. He was convicted in June of 11 felony counts, including aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties with minors.
Trial testimony from five former students cast Jerraulds as calculating and manipulative who engaged in sexual conduct with his students.
Jerraulds was a popular coach who drew scores of students to cheerleading development programs in Henrico and Chesterfield counties.
