SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say one teen was killed and another seriously injured when the off-road motorcycle they were riding collided with a Shore Up! bus Thursday afternoon in Salisbury.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis has confirmed that 15-year-old Joshua Thomas Fridley of Salisbury died as a result of the accident. A passenger on the motorcycle, identified as 16-year-old David Keith Polk, has been airlifted to Baltimore where he is being treated for severe injuries.

The driver of the bus, identified as 41-year-old Bronson Cornelious Phillips of Salisbury, was not injured. There were two passengers onboard the bus at the time of the collision and neither was injured. Their identities have not been released.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuscola Avenue. Wicomico County sheriff's deputies said they were responding to the area of Tuscola Avenue near Powhattan Boulevard after reports were received of a blue and white off-road motorcycle operating recklessly. Before deputies could arrive in the area, the crash occurred.

Lewis said neither of the occupants of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet or any approved safety equipment at the time of the crash, Lewis said. He said the motorcycle, a 2011 Yamaha 125 dirt bike, was not registered or insured to be driven on a roadway.

This crash is being investigated and reconstructed by members of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, which are being assisted by the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, the Berlin Police Department, the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack and a MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
