DOVER, DE  – Wesley College's men's soccer team dropped its Capital Athletic Conference opener to No. 19 York (Pa.), 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines fall to 1-3-2 on the season while the Spartans improve to 4-1-1.

York went ahead just under five minutes into the game, and found the back of the net two more times in the first half, taking a 3-0 halftime lead.  The Spartans added another goal at 52:04 to take a four-goal lead before Pat Slinka put Wesley on the board with a 60-yard free kick that sailed over the leaping goalkeeper.

The Spartans outshot the Wolverines, 20-17, and held a 9-5 advantage on corner kicks.

Mark Mattern made nine saves for Wesley in the loss.

The Wolverines are back in action on September 18, when they travel to take on Albright in a 7 pm kickoff.
