DOVER, Del.- Police have announced the arrests of two suspects for the murder of a 59-year-old man whose strangled body was found inside a Dover home late Monday night. Investigators also said they believe the victim was murdered as the result of a home invasion robbery.
Joshua Lemonick, 20, of Newtown, Pa., and Angeline Terek, 23, Bristol, Pa., are each charged with first-degree murder, home invasion, first-degree robbery, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree conspiracy and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. Bond information was not immediately available.
Both Lemonick and Terek are accused in the killing of Michael Gklotsos, who owned the Hollywood Diner in Dover and the Milford Diner.
Police said that on Tuesday night, detectives were able to identify Lemonick as the driver depicted in a video surveillance photo that was released to the media. According to police, an investigation also revealed that Lemonick's girlfriend, identified as Terek, had ties to the Dover area and knew the victim. A continued investigation led to detectives obtaining arrest warrants for both suspects the aforementioned charges.
Dover police detectives worked in conjunction with Newtown Township police in Pennsylvania, who took Lemonick into custody at his home in Newtown at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Dover police detectives then contacted police in Falls Township, Pa., after receiving information that Terek may be in the area. Falls Township police arrested her at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday while she was walking in the area of the 200 block of South Olds Boulevard.
Both suspects will be held in Pennsylvania pending extradition hearings.
Police said the arrests stemmed from an incident that occurred at around 10:42 p.m. Monday, when officers received a call from a woman saying she was abducted and later released unharmed during a home invasion on the 100 block of Acorn Lane. She told police that a man in the home was assaulted during the invasion. Officers responded to home in question and discovered Gklotsos' body inside.
According to police, the State Medical Examiner's Office ruled Gklotsos' death a homicide. An autopsy determined that he died from asphyxia by neck compression (strangulation).
Police said while the investigation continues it appears that robbery was the motive for the crime.
