Ocean City Group Holds Rally for Voter Awareness

Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md.- The group Citizens For Ocean City held a rally at Seacrets nightclub on Tuesday evening to increase voter awareness.  Current and prospective city officials and showed up to talk with people as well.

Joe Groves, a member of the group, says he hopes the turnout for voting this year will improve.

"We're really here tonight to get people to register to vote and more importantly to remind people to vote," he said. "Two years ago with over 8,000 people in town, around 745 people voted, which accounted for about 9.5 percent of the people."

People were encouraged to speak with the city officials and the candidates as well.  If you are an Ocean City resident who was unable to attend Tuesday's event, you can register to vote at the Citizens for Ocean City office at 9800 Coastal Highway.
