Peace in the Park Event This Saturday in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- In observance of the annual United Nations International Day of Peace, the public is invited to attend "Peace in the Park," being held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 22, in the Salisbury City Park near Ben's Red Swings.

According to event organizers, many different faith and civic groups have been invited to participate in a local celebration for peace. The public is invited to join in the celebration, bring a picnic, meet new and old neighbors, as well as participate in the peace-related activities and live music, drum circles and peace walk. 
 
Some of the churches/religious groups participating include Asbury United Methodist Church, Baha'i Faith, Wesley Temple UMC, Community of Joy Church of the Brethren, St Alban's Episcopal and St. Peters Episcopal, Salisbury Friends Worship Group, Wicomico River Friends and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Salisbury. Habitat for Humanity of Salisbury, Salisbury University's Center for Conflict Resolution, the National Peace Alliance and Salisbury Urban Ministry, Mayors for Peace/Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, Maryland Veterans for Peace, Healthy U, Camp Odyssey will also be there, along with several other community groups.
