Wesley Football Ranked Sixth in Both Polls

WACO, Texas After a victory at #25 Louisiana College, Wesley College's football team jumped up one spot to No. 6 in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, it was announced on Monday. The Wolverines (3-1) remained sixth in the D3football.com Top 25 Poll, which was released late Sunday night.

The top five in the AFCA poll remained the same with Mount Union at No. 1, the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor at two, St. Thomas at three, Linfield at four, and Wisconsin-Whitewater at five. Three of Wesley's opponents this season, including UMHB, are ranked in the AFCA Top 25, with Salisbury at 11 and the Navy & White's next opponent, Birmingham-Southern (4-0), at 13. 

Also receiving votes in the Coaches Poll are Louisiana College (2-1) and Huntingdon (3-1), who Wesley travels to on Oct. 27.

D3football.com's top-five remained the same as well, with the same first two teams, followed by Linfield, Wisconsin-Whitewater and St. Thomas.  The Sea Gulls, who Wesley defeated on the road earlier this season, comes in at No. 7.  Birmingham-Southern is ranked 16th, while Louisiana College and Huntingdon are 23rd and 24th, respectively.

The Wolverines are idle next Saturday, but host #13 Birmingham Southern on Oct. 6 in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
