








WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – University of Delaware freshmen Braden Shattuck and
Kyle Martin each finished the day among the top 10 to lead the Blue Hen
men's golf team to a fourth place spot in the team standings on Monday
following the first day of the Joe Agee Invitational.
Shattuck opened with a one over par 72 on the par 71, 6,837-yard course
at The Williamsburg Club before following with an even par 71 during his
second round. Shattuck will enter Tuesday's final round tied for fifth
place in the individual standings at one over par with a 72-71-143.
Martin began his day with a five over par 76, but rebounded to card a
three under 68 as he finished the day tied for eighth place with a two
over par 76-68-144. Martin's second round 68 is tied for the 15th lowest
round in Blue Hen history, while he is just the second UD freshman in
school history to shoot a 68 or lower, along with Colin Smith who carded
a 66 in the fall of 2007.
Blue Hen senior captain Ben Conroy fired a 75-74-149, ending the day at
seven over par to tie for 21st place. Sophomore Niño Roal carded a nine
over par 76-75-151, ending Monday's action in 29th place.
Junior Dan Costenbader concluded the day in a tie for 43rd place after
he recorded a 17 over par 77-82-159.
Chase Wilson of High Point, who carded a 67-67-134, and Callum Tarren of
Radford, who fired a 64-70-134, are tied for the individual lead at
eight under par.
The Blue Hens posted two sub-300 team rounds on the day, recording a 299
and a 287 to finish Monday fourth out of 11 squads at 587. High Point
and Radford are tied for the lead at 572, while host William & Mary sits
in third place at 577.
The third and final round of the Joe Agee Invitational will begin
Tuesday at 9 a.m. at The Williamsburg Club.
