WACO, Texas– Wesley College's football team remains sixth in both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com polls after being idle this past week.
The Wolverines will take on their fourth-straight ranked opponent for the first time in school-history in Birmingham Southern on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. The Panthers come to Dover ranked 11th in the Coaches Poll and 15 th in the Media Poll.
In the coaches poll, the top five remains the same with Mount Union, Mary Hardin-Baylor, St. Thomas, Linfield and Wisconsin-Whitewater.
St. Thomas and Wisconsin-Whitewater switched positions in the media poll, with the Warhawks dropping from four to five.
Among Wesley's other opponents this season, UMHB ranks second in both polls, while Salisbury is No. 7 in the media poll and tenth in the AFCA.
Louisiana College, who the Wolverines defeated on the road on Sept. 22, is ranked 21st in the media poll and is the top vote getter outside the top 25 in the coaches poll. Huntingdon, who Wesley travels to on Oct. 27, is 24th in the D3football.com poll and is receiving votes in the coaches poll. Menlo College is ranked 24th in the NAIA, and the Navy & White will make the cross country tip to Atherton, Calif., on Oct. 13.
Wesley also traveled to Widener for a preseason scrimmage and the Pride is ranked 17th in both polls.
