DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested two men in connection with nine daytime burglaries of unoccupied homes in Kent County.

Floyd A. Smith Jr., 22, of Wyoming, Del., was taken into custody on Wednesday, Sept. 26. He faces a total of 16 charges related to second-degree burglary, theft, second-degree conspiracy, possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief, theft by false pretense and falsifying business records.

Michael A. Johnson Jr., 41, of Clayton, Del., was taken into custody on Friday, Sept. 29. He is facing a total of 27 charges related to second-degree burglary, theft, second-degree conspiracy, possession of burglar tools and criminal mischief.

According to police, the arrests stemmed from a month-long investigation into the residential burglaries that occurred during the month of September in Dover, Camden, and Hartly. Smith and Johnson would break into the unoccupied homes and once inside would steal jewelry and other personal items, investigators said.

Following their arrests on their aforementioned charges, Smith was released on $33,000 unsecured bond and Johnson was ordered held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $57,000 bond.
