OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP/WBOC)- The Ocean City Town Council has decided to allow offseason skateboarding on the boardwalk.
Officials voted Monday to overturn a 1972 ban on skateboarding on the boardwalk. However, skateboarding tricks and grinds off benches will not be allowed.
It will also still be prohibited to skateboard in Ocean City from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Councilmember Doug Cymek said young kids as well as people in the 20s and 30s had asked for the law to be changed.
"The skateboarders of the community came forward and made their presence known right after we had the conversation regarding the beater boards and asked for us to revisit this and we did," Cymek said.
