SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say a Salisbury man is facing charges for an armed robbery that allegedly occurred during a drug deal at an apartment complex.

Salisbury police said that shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, the victim went to an apartment at the Pemberton Manor Apartments on Fairground Drive to meet someone there for the purposes of a drug transaction.

Police said that once the victim entered the apartment, he was struck in the head with an unknown object. According to investigators, the suspect then took cash, marijuana and other items from the victim.

Detectives identified the suspect as 22-year-old Anthony Dontay Austin and he was taken into custody by members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team on the 600 block of Smith Street. He was charged with armed robbery, robbery, assault second degree, reckless endangerment and theft less than $1,000. He was then turned over to the custody of Wicomico Central Booking.
