SALISBURY, MD – The Salisbury University football team rose to No. 9 in the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Division III top 25 poll and remained No. 7 in the D3football.com poll, the organizations announced on Monday.
Salisbury (4-1, 2-0 Empire 8) notched a 28-17 come-from-behind win at St. John Fisher College on Saturday. The Sea Gulls earned 691 points in the AFCA poll to trail eighth-ranked Hobart College by 25. St. John Fisher fell from No. 8 to No. 17 with 388 points.
The top-seven teams in the AFCA remained unchanged with the University of Mount Union (1,049, 41 first-place votes) and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (1,008, one first-place vote) continue to lead the pack.
Salisbury trails sixth-ranked Wesley College in the D3football.com poll by 16 points with 473. The top-eight teams saw no movement. Mount Union (623) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (598) shared first-place votes with 23 and two, respectively.
The Sea Gulls host Hartwick College on Saturday for Homecoming at Sea Gull Stadium. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
