CAMDEN, Del.- Delaware State Police say a 91-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustained in a crash that occurred last week in Millville.

The woman has been identified as Esther K. West of Frankford.

Police said the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, as Esther West's husband, 91-year-old George D. West, was operating a 1987 Pontiac Bonneville southbound on Roxana Road (SR17) just south of Burbage Road west of Millville. Troopers said that for an unknown reason, Mr. West drifted off the west side of the roadway before striking a utility pole with the front of the car.

Mr. and Mrs. West, who who were both wearing their seat belts, were removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Mrs. West was later transferred to Christiana Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Monday, Oct. 8. Mr. West is still a patient at the hospital and is being treated for undisclosed injuries.
