PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP/WBOC)- The U.S. Coast Guard says it has suspended a search for two brothers who went missing on a boating trip from Maryland to Virginia.
The Coast Guard said Wednesday that air and surface crews searched about 20,400 overlapping square miles along the Eastern Shore since the men were reported missing Sunday morning.
Fifty-one-year-old Mike Bramlett and his brother, 54-year-old Donald Bramlett, left Ocean City, Md., Saturday morning. They were expected to arrive in Chincoteague on Saturday evening. They were aboard a 38-foot sport fishing boat called Reel Fun.
Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads commander Capt. John Little says the decision to suspend the search was difficult.
