DENTON, Md.- Deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office are searching for an inmate who failed to return to the county detention center earlier this week.

Shawn Richard Lituski was temporarily released from the Caroline County Detention Center on Tuesday, Oct. 9, to attend a family member's funeral. He did not return by the deadline set by court.

Police said Lituski has a lengthy history with the law, including drug and assault charges.
He was serving an 18-month sentence for possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

Lituski has family on the Mid-Shore, but police believe he may have traveled to the Baltimore City area. He is described as a 23-year-old white male, with brown hair and brown eyes, 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Caroline County Sheriff's Office (410) 479-2515 or the Caroline County Detention Center (410) 479-2517.
