Del. AG to Host Foreclosure Prevention Events

WILMINGTON, Del.- Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden announced Friday that his office is sponsoring events statewide to assist homeowners who are behind on mortgage payments, facing foreclosure or have questions about homeowner resources that are available. 

According to Biden, these free events will each feature mortgage presentations as well as open houses where homeowners can meet with staff from the Attorney General's Foreclosure Prevention Office. 

These events will be held at the following times and locations:
 
Wednesday, Oct. 17

Georgia House, 119 Main Street, Millsboro
Open House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Educational Presentation beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Georgia House, 119 Main Street, Millsboro
Open House from 4-7:30 p.m.
Educational Presentation beginning at 6 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 18

Appoquinimink Library, 651 N. Broad St., Middletown
Open House from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Educational Presentation beginning at noon

Gilliam Building, New Castle County Government Center, 77 Reads Way, New Castle
Open House from 5-7:45 p.m.
Educational Presentation beginning at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 24

Outlook at Duncan Center, 500 West Loockerman St., Dover
Open House from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Educational Presentation beginning at noon

Newark YWCA, 153 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark
Open House from 4-7 p.m.
Educational Presentation beginning at 6 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 25

Louis L. Redding City/County Building, 800 N. French St., Wilmington
Open House from 9 a.m.-noon
Educational Presentation beginning at 11:45 a.m.

Walk-ins are encouraged and no RSVPs are necessary, according to Biden.

The attorney general said that at each open house, staff from his office will discuss the foreclosure timeline, provide tips on avoiding foreclosure scams, review state and federal programs for homeowners, and brief Delawareans on the national mortgage settlement. Staff may also be able to assist homeowners who are having difficulty reaching their lender to discuss repayment options or other alternatives to foreclosure.
