DOVER, Del.- Police have arrested a suspect accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Safeway store on John Hunn Brown Road in Dover.

Dover police said that shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday, 25-year-old Syvetres A. Harmon approached the 55-year-old female victim in the parking lot of the supermarket and attempted to grab the purse from the victim's shopping cart. Police said the victim struggled to hold on to the purse, at which time Harmon pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot her if she did not give her the bag. Investigators that after being given the purse, Harmon ran to the back of the Safeway.

There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident. The victim contacted police and alerted her bank as her credit cards were inside the purse. Within hours, the victim's bank alerted Dover police detectives that a female had allegedly used the card to pay her City of Dover electric bill. Detectives responded to the Country Village Drive home of the electric customer, which they say turned out to be Harmon.

Police said that after a search of Harmon's home and clothing, detectives located and seized some of the victim's property and a black BB gun modeled after a semi-automatic handgun.

Harmon was taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery and unlawful use of a credit card. She was ordered held in the Delores J. Baylor Correctional Center in default of $51,500 secured bond.
