Joshua Cathell
DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police have made an arrest in the murder of a Dover man.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday, 18-year-old Joshua Cathell of Dover walked into Troop 3 near Dover after learning he was being sought for questioning in the suspicious death of a man whose body was found inside a trailer in the Oak Grove Mobile Home Park on Little Creek Road.
According to police, detectives learned through their investigation that Cathell had shot the victim one time in the head and then dragged his body to a bedroom. Police said Cathell then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned in Rodney Village Shopping Center.
The victim, who has been identified as 40-year-old Isidro Vasquez Hernandez of Dover, had not been seen since Monday, Oct. 15. A concerned friend responded to the trailer on Friday evening to check on Hernandez. When Hernandez did not come to the door, he called 9-1-1. Troopers responded to the trailer and when they looked through the windows of the home, discovered what appeared to be blood on the walls and floors. The troopers forced their way inside the home and discovered Hernandez' body lying on a bedroom floor.
Cathell was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He is being held without bail in the James T. Vaughtn Correctional Center.
Police have not yet released a motive in the murder.
