DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware's unemployment rate has dipped to 6.8% after two months of increases.

According to a state report Friday, Delaware's jobless rate dropped to 6.8% in September, down from 6.9% in August. A year ago in September, Delaware's jobless rate was 7.4%.

The state reported a gain of 1,300 jobs in September. There are now 30,000 people seeking work, compared to 32,600 last year. That number doesn't include those who stopped looking for jobs.

State economist George Sharpley tells The News Journal (http://delonline.us/T4AeTU ) that over the past year and half-year, there's a clearer picture of economic growth. But it's growing slowly.

Wilmington has the state's highest unemployment rate at 10.2%, down from 10.8% in August. Kent County has the highest county rate at 7%.
