Salisbury Man Arrested on DUI, Hit-and-Run Charges

SALISBURY, Md.- A man is facing DUI and related charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday in Salisbury.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 2:30 a.m., a deputy responded to a hit-and-run involving two vehicles on Naylor Mill Road near Goddard Parkway.

Authorities said the victim was able to provide a tag number for the vehicle that fled the scene.

Police said the deputy located the vehicle at the ballpark on South Pennsylvania Avenue in Delmar.

Deputies said an interview revealed that the driver, identified as 21-year-old Philip Dale Fields of Salisbury, had rear-ended the victim's vehicle and knowingly left the scene.

Police said Fields appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and given a sobriety test, which he failed. He also registered .16 BAC content on a breath test, which is twice the legal limit.

Fields was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol per se and leaving the scene of an accident. He was released upon the issuance of citations.
