DOVER, Del.- Police in Delaware have scheduled DUI checkpoints in three different locations across the state the weekend before Halloween.
According to the state Office of Highway Safety, the checkpoints will be held at the following locations:
Friday, Oct. 26
- Wilmington (Delaware State Police)- Checkpoint
- Georgetown (Multi-jurisdictional effort)- Checkpoint
Saturday, Oct. 27
- Wilmington (New Castle County DUI Task Force)- Halloween Loop checkpoint
The checkpoints are part of the ongoing Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign, a regional sobriety campaign aimed at arrested DUI offenders.
Last weekend, officers in Delaware reportedly arrested 15 people for DUI as part of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign. In addition, officers cited one minor for a underage drinking, apprehended three wanted individuals, made six drug arrests, issued five seat belt citations and issued 46 citations for various other traffic violations.
There have been more than 4,000 DUI arrests statewide since January, according to the OHS.
