SALISBURY, Md.- Maryland State Police have arrested a Salisbury man who allegedly led troopers on a high-speed chase through Wicomico and Worcester counties late Wednesday night.
Police said that shortly before midnight, troopers attempted to stop a 2004 Hyundai Sonata traveling northbound on Route 13 near Carroll Street for an equipment violation.
Police said the driver, 28-year-old Tymir Deron Johnson, led troopers on a 19-mile high-speed chase, during which he made several traffic violations.
Troopers said the pursuit ended on Route 374 in Worcester County, when Johnson got out of his car and attempted to run away.
According to police, troopers were able to catch Johnson and an investigation revealed that he was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, had an active warrant for his arrest and was driving on a suspended license.
Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance: marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting/interfering with arrest; failure to comply with lawful order; failure to obey lawful order; obstructing; driving on a suspended license; fleeing police; exceeding the speed limit and aggressive driving.
