DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the attempted robbery of Mike's Food Mart in Dover earlier this week.
Troopers said Thursday they have arrested 29-year-old David L. Penn of Felton. He was charged with attempted first-degree robbery and ordered held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $25,000 cash bond.
Police say that at around 2:26 p.m. Monday, Penn entered Mike's Food Mart at 1378 South Governors Avenue armed with a handgun and demanded money.
Investigators said a 36-year-old male employee began fighting with Penn and at one point was hit over the head with the gun. Police said Penn fled without any cash or other items.
During their investigation into the incident, DSP detectives identified Penn as the suspect. Detectives obtained a search warrant on a home located in the Clearfield Apartments near Dover where Penn was reportedly staying. Upon executing the warrant, Penn was located at the apartment and taken into custody without incident.
