Huge Turnout at Early Voting Location in Md.

BERLIN, Md. (AP) - Early voting was a popular activity in one Eastern Shore town ahead of Hurricane Sandy.

Despite a steady rain all day Sunday, more than 300 people voted at an early voting location at an assisted living facility in Berlin.

Kay Hickman, president of the Worcester County Board of Elections, says more than 1,000 people voted there on Saturday. She says some waited up to an hour and 40 minutes during the busiest time.

The polling place had so many voters that poll workers ran out of "I Voted" stickers. Hickman says some told her they were voting early because they were preparing to evacuate.

Early voting has been suspended in Maryland for Monday.
