BALTIMORE (AP)- Utility companies in Maryland and the District of Columbia are reporting only sporadic power outages in the hours since steady rain moved into the area.

Baltimore Gas and Electric reported 346 outages as of 6 a.m. Monday and said service had already been restored to roughly 4,700 customers. The outages were mostly concentrated in Prince George's, Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties as well as Baltimore city.

Meanwhile, Pepco, the electric utility for the District of Columbia, said outages were affecting more than 140 customers in D.C. and Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
