RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is visiting Chincoteague and other areas to look at damage caused by superstorm Sandy.
The governor headed to Chincoteague's emergency operations center Wednesday morning. Flooding and widespread downed trees occurred on the island. A curfew was lifted at noon Tuesday.
McDonnell planned to meet with officials from the Virginia State Police, the state departments of Emergency Management and Transportation and other agencies.
An aerial tour of Tangier Island also is planned and the governor scheduled visits to Arcadia High School and the Saxis fire department.
