Meehan Re-elected Ocean City Mayor; 4 Council Members Chosen

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan won re-election Tuesday, garnering 2,238 votes to challenger Nick Campagnoli's 629.

Two incumbent candidates won re-election to the town council: Mary Knight received 1,853 votes and Douglas Cymek received 1,680. Two newcomer candidates were elected to the council: former town manager Dennis Dare, who received 1,952 votes and Joe Matrecic, who got 1,853 votes.

In other news, a charter referendum for collective bargaining was defeated with 1,723 voting against it and 931 voting in favor.

    Police Investigating Deadly Crash in Wicomico County

    Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly car crash Friday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of White Lowe Road and Route 50 shortly before 3 p.m. According to MSP, Maria Theresia Ellis, 77 of Ocean City, was driving on White Lowe Road when her car failed to yield to oncoming traffic as she turned onto Route 50. Police said Ellis's car was hit in a T-bone like manner by Garrett Adrian Pusey, 20 of Mardela Springs.
