(Photo: MGN)DOVER, Del. (AP)- A Kent County judge has ordered a local water and sewer authority to comply with Delaware's Freedom of Information act and disclose information about employee salaries.
The Camden-Wyoming Sewer and Water Authority has refused to release the records, saying it is not a public body under state law. In response, the General Assembly last year amended Delaware's FOIA to specify that the authority is subject to open meetings and open records requirements.
But the authority still refused to comply, prompting the attorney general's office to file a lawsuit on behalf of Wyoming's town treasurer.
The judge on Wednesday granted the state's request to rule in its favor based on written submissions to the court and not allow further litigation.
The authority has 30 days to appeal.
