West Line Road Still Closed from Sandy

SELBYVILLE, Del.--  It's been about two weeks since Superstorm Sandy drenched Delmarva,  leaving one road literally in pieces.  West Line road crumbled, and people who live there are now using alternate routes, until it's fixed.

The Delaware Department of Transportation has the road closed off and says it will be about a month until its fixed.

"We thought that it was just flooded and once the water went away after the storm we realized that the road was completely gone," said Debbie Kelley, she lives on the road.

DelDOT says pipes underground failed during Sandy and the work to fix it is extensive.

"We are currently developing a plan to have it repaired as quickly as possible. It will likely be weeks before the road is safe enough to open it to traffic," said Jim Westoff, DelDOT spokesman.

But, for Kelley, it's been a headache.

"We can either go around through Maryland to get through into Selbyville, or we have to go all the way around by route 54 in through Selbyville, in order to get where we needed to go," said Kelley.
