SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Wicomico County officials have voted to shut down a newly opened transfer station in Salisbury.
The County Council made the decision during a public hearing last week where residents complained about the noise and dust from trucks heading to the Allen Road transfer station. The station accepts household trash.
County officials say they are trying to find another location for a new transfer station with a smaller impact on nearby residents.
The 60 days given to the county by the property owner is up Friday, but county spokeswoman Tamara Lee-Brooks says officials are trying to ensure that residents can continue using the Allen Road station until a new location is identified.
