WASHINGTON (AP)- U.S. Sen. Chris Coons has spent only about two years in Washington, but the Delaware Democrat has some advice to give new lawmakers.

Coons will speak this week at closed-door orientation meetings for new lawmakers elected to the Senate in last week's elections.

Coons will give a talk on Tuesday entitled "How to Survive the Next Few Weeks," which will focus on the professional and personal transition into the Senate.

He'll speak again on Thursday in an orientation session called "Lessons Learned from the Class of 2011." That session will highlight questions that senators who were elected two years ago wish they had asked during their own orientation.
