FELTON, Del. - Juan Corraa Sr. says he thought he was watching a movie when a car careened past his home.

"I looked in the paper and in maybe another five minutes I was going to go to the mailbox to see if there was mail in the mailbox and then I heard, 'Boom!' said Corraa.

That "boom," according to Coraa, was the result of a car crashing into a nearby home.

Delaware State Police said the driver of the wayward vehicle was 22-year-old Carlot Stinvil of Dover. He lost control of his vehicle along South Dupont Highway in Felton on Saturday, slamming into mailboxes and ditches before going airborne into the home.

The damage was so bad that Kent County Code Enforcement condemned the property.

Police say three people were inside at the time at the time of the incident. Neighbors tell WBOC that the homeowner was sitting in the living room moments before the crash. She then walked into another room and avoided getting hit by the vehicle.

"She had a guardian angel watching out for her," said Carolyn Giddens of Felton. Giddens lives next door and describes what she heard that day. She said, "It sounded like a freight train coming past your house because it was just so fast."

WBOC was unable to speak with the family on Monday, but daughter NaKeisha Coston posted the following message on the DSP Facebook page reading quote: "Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. This was my mother's home. Yes she might have lost everything but material things can be replaced."

"I'm glad no one got hurt because somebody could've got killed," said Corraa. Everyone survived, but they may have lost a lifetime of memories.

Police say Stinvil was charged with driving without a valid license and inattentive driving.
