WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- Delaware Gov. Jack Markell says his chief of staff is stepping down from the post to return to private law practice.
Markell said Thursday that Tom McGonigle, who has served as chief of staff since Markell took office in January 2009, will be replaced by Mike Barlow, who currently serves as Markell's chief legal counsel.
The staffing change will take effect Dec. 3
Before joining Markell's staff, McGonigle was a managing partner of the Delaware office of Wolf Block LLP. He previously served as chief legal counsel and policy director for former governor and current U.S. Sen. Tom Carper.
Barlow is a former corporate litigator with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He is a graduate of St. Mark's High School, the University of Delaware, and Harvard Law School.
