Man Shot in Smyrna

SMYRNA, Del.- Smyrna police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting that put a man in the hospital.

Police said the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at a home on the unit block of Summer Drive. According to investigators, when the victim answered his front door, he was shot by an unknown male assailant.

When officers arrived on the scene, they conducted a search of the area for an armed male who was wearing dark clothing, with no further description given.

A K-9 track and helicopter flyover were also conducted shortly after the call was received.

The victim was taken to Bay Health Kent General Hospital in Dover where he remains in stable condition.
