DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested a Philadelphia man they say threw down a weapon while they chased him following a domestic dispute in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Jerome Drive in Dover.

Police said that at around noon Thursday, a man later identified as 24-year-old Keith Denmark, and his girlfriend got into an argument as they drove in the parking lot. Investigators said Denmark hit the woman, dragged her out of the car, pinned her to the ground and took her cellphone.

Authorities said troopers spotted the man running and saw him put a .45-caliber handgun under a car in a parking lot. He was caught and arrested. According to police, a computer check on the gun revealed that it had been reported stolen to the Atlanta Police Department back in August of 2010. Investigators said that Denmark, who is a convicted felon out of Pennsylvania, is prohibited from carry or being in possession of any firearm and ammunition.

Denmark is charged with second-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon by person prohibited, possession of ammunition by person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, resisting arrest and offensive touching. He is being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $67,000 cash only bond.
