DEWEY BEACH, Del. (AP)- Town officials in Dewey Beach have decided to hire an engineering consultant to provide expert advice on the redevelopment of Ruddertowne.

Dewey Beach is looking for an engineering firm to assist the town's lone building official. Acting Town Manager Marc Appelbaum says Ruddertowne is the largest development project the town has ever seen.

The development is planned to include a hotel and condominium complex with retailers and restaurants.

Appelbaum says oversight is even more crucial since the town has had conflicts with Ruddertowne developers Dewey Beach Enterprises.

The engineering contractor will be responsible for reviewing the town's zoning code, building standards and other documents related to the project.
