ANNAPOLIS, Md.– The Salisbury University field hockey season may have ended but the awards have started to roll in as seniors Amber Holland and Kristina Fusco were each named to the Synapse Sports DIII All-American team.
Holland was named a first-team member after a stellar season with the Sea Gulls. The senior co-captain helped lead SU's defense to five shutouts and made six defensive saves en route to Salisbury's 15-3 record. Salisbury allowed only 23 goals on the season and strong play by Holland and teammates held opponents to 145 shots while SU tallied 427.
Fusco garnered third-team honors in her final season with the maroon and gold. The Forest Hill, Md., native's talents were utilized on both the forward and midfield line as the senior co-captain scored nine goals and added one assist. Fusco was the team's second-leading scorer on an offense that ranked in the top five in the nation in scoring average, goals per game, scoring margin and points per game.
The Sea Gulls started the season off with an 11-game winning streak before advancing to the NCAA tournament for the 28th time in program history.
