YORK, Pa.– The Capital Athletic Conference announced its first basketball awards of the 2012-13 season and Salisbury University senior Travon Vann was named the men's basketball Player of the Week.
Vann led the Gulls to a 3-0 start last week, including two wins at the 15th Annual Tip-Off Tournament, at Lycoming College, to claim the title.
For the week, Vann averaged 24.7 points, 11 rebounds and over five assists per game. Vann put up 30 points and 18 rebounds in the Tip-Off Tournament clinching win against Lycoming, shooting 75 percent from the floor (12-of-16), and was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Vann and the Sea Gulls will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20, hosting Christopher Newport University as part of a basketball doubleheader at Maggs Physical Activities Center. The women's team will play Virginia Wesleyan College at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game.
